Enabling/Disabling Passthrough

In the event that the source buffer becomes unavailable, the AIM State column in AIM Source Manager will display “No Buffer” instead of “Active.” If this happens, by default you will be unable to write I/O from the application server to the source system. If you enable Passthrough, I/O is written directly to the AIM source virtual volumes on  the source system and logged in memory on the source system. After the source buffer is corrected and the AIM State column shows “recovering”, logged changes are sent to the destination system. When all logged changes are recovered, the AIM State column reports ‘Active’ and normal AIM transfers resume.

To enable Passthrough:

  1. Navigate to AIM Source Manager.

  2. In the left pane, select AIM Source Volumes.

  3. In the right pane, right-click on the AIM set, and select Enable Passthrough. The AIM State column will display “ Passthrough.”

To disable Passthrough:

  1. Navigate to AIM Source Manager.

  2. In the left pane, select AIM Source Volumes.

  3. In the right pane, right-click on the AIM set, and select Disable Passthrough. The AIM State column will display “No Buffer.”
