Manually Sending User-Defined Markers

Follow these steps to send a user-defined marker immediately. You can specify the name of the marker. The marker is case sensitive and can be comprised of up to 15 alpha-numeric characters, symbols, and spaces.

Before sending markers, the associated activity (event or executable file) to be performed on the destination system for the marker must be defined in AIM Destination Manager, refer to Defining Marker Actions.

To send markers manually:

  1. Open AIM Source Manager.

  2. In the left pane, select AIM Source Volumes.

  3. In the right pane, select the AIM set, and choose User-Defined Marker from the context menu.

  4. In the User-Defined Marker text box, enter the marker to send and click OK.

The message appears in the Destination Log file when the custom marker is received, and the text string value it was assigned.
