Using a Boot Drive Destination Volume

The procedures for ” AIMing” the boot drive are the same as those to “AIM” any data drive. Follow the instructions in Getting Started with AIM  to “AIM” the boot drive to a destination server.

Ways to Use the Boot Image on the Destination System:

Mirror the Boot Disk and Physically Transport to the Source Site

  • Use Snapshot on the SANmelody server to enable a snapshot of the boot image.

  • Map the snapshot virtual volume back to the local storage server (If necessary, refer to Mapping Virtual Volumes to the Local Server.)

  • Using Windows Disk Management, mirror the mapped volume to a local disk equal to the size of the AIM boot volume.

  • Physically transport the drive to the AIM source location.

Map the Boot Disk and Use FTP to Transport

  • Use Snapshot on the SANmelody server to enable a snapshot of the the boot image.
