Deleting an Application Server

To delete an application server:

  1. In the Application Servers Snap-in, right-click the application server, and select Delete

  2. Apply the configuration changes.

Implications of Deleting Application Servers

  • If no virtual volumes are mapped to this application server, then this simply removes the application server’s name from the configuration.  Any channels assigned to that application server are reclassified as Available Channels.

  • If any virtual volumes are mapped to this application, then a dialog box prompts you to click OK to continue, or Cancel to abort.

    • If you click OK, all virtual volumes mapped to this application server are first unmapped.  This means that the application server will lose access to the virtual volumes presented to it.  Then, the application server is removed from the configuration as described above.

    • If you click Cancel, then no virtual volumes are unmapped, and the application server is not deleted.  The application server still can access the virtual volumes presented to it by the SANmelody server.
