Unmap Virtual Volume

Note:  When deleting a virtual volume, rather than merely un-mapping it from a host, all data on that virtual volume will be erased.  This ensures that when its space is reclaimed, none of the data previously written can be inadvertently read by unauthorized hosts.  This is similar to unplugging a SCSI disk from an application server and erasing it before reusing its parts for other disks.

  1. Select the Application Server component in the SANmelody snap-in.

  2. Select the application server with the virtual volume you wish to unmap.

  3. In the lower right pane, select the virtual volume.

  4. Right-click and select Unmap.

  5. At the prompt dialog, click OK to continue.

  6. Apply the configuration.
