Exceeding License Storage Limit

If you add a disk which causes you to exceed your license limit and you do not choose to increase the storage capacity on your license:

  1. In the Storage Server snap-in, right-click the storage server, and select Release All Volumes. This causes the storage server to release control of unused volumes.

  2. Remove any raw disks from pools (see Removing Disks from NMV Pools).

  3. In Windows Disk Management, remove partitions from the volumes so that SANmelody software cannot access them.  When disks are unallocated, they are not available as SANmelody storage.

  4. In the Storage Server snap-in, right-click the storage server, and select Protect All Volumes.
