Restoring Configuration from ERD
The Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) is used in the event that the SANmelody configuration needs to be restored. If you are using AIM, also refer to the Restoring AIM Configurations section in this topic for additional instructions.
- Exit the SANmelody software.
- Rename the existing sanmapper.dat file in the SANmanager folder located in the SANmelody folder (default C:Program Files (x86)DataCoreSANmelodySANmanager).
- Copy the sanmapper.dat (your configuration file) file from the Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) to the same directory.
- If you do not want to apply the configuration after restoring, copy the SANmapperGen.txt file.
- Start the SANmelody software. Your saved configuration will be available.
- Apply the configuration (unless you also included SANmapperGen.txt as mentioned in the note above.)
The SANmelody storage server is now running with the restored configuration.
Restoring AIM Configurations
For AIM Configurations: AIM configuration files are stored locally. Therefore, when restoring storage servers running AIM, it is necessary to use the ERD made locally for each storage server running AIM in the partnership. The procedure is different for source and destination servers. If a storage server acts as both source and destination, follow the steps for both procedures.
For AIM source servers:
-
To preserve your existing files before copying new files from the ERD, rename the existing DcsAim.cfg and AimSource.cfg files in the ..SANmelodyAIM folder on the AIM source server.
-
Copy the files DcsAim.cfg and AimSource.cfg from the AIM subfolder on the ERD disk to the AIM subfolder on the AIM source server.
-
From the ERD, run the . reg files DcsAimParams.reg and DcsAimSrcParams.reg to restore the AIM Source Service parameter settings.
Note: . reg files are runnable; double-click the files and they update the registry.
-
In Windows Computer Management>Services and Applications, open Services, restart the DataCore AIM Source Service.
For AIM destination servers:
-
To preserve your existing files before copying new files from the ERD, rename the existing AimDestination.cfg and AimService.cfg files in the AIM destination buffer folder on the AIM destination server.
-
Copy the files AimDestination.cfg and AimService.cfg from the AIMdestination subfolder on the ERD disk to the AIM destination buffer folder.
-
From the ERD, run the . reg files DcsAimDestParams.reg to restore the AIM Destination Service parameter settings.
Note: . reg files are runnable; double-click the files and they update the registry.
-
In Windows Computer Management>Services and Applications, open Services, restart the DataCore AIM Destination Service.
