Installing SANmelody Updates and PSPs
The instructions in this topic are for applying software updates and Product Service Packs (PSPs) to existing SANmelody 3.0 configurations. Updates and PSPs for SANmelody 3.0 are complete installations. In order to update your SANmelody software version, the version that is currently installed must first be uninstalled, and then the new version can be installed.
WARNINGS:
- If you are doing an upgrade from a version of SANmelody 2.0, you must follow special procedures. These instructions are provided on our SANmelody Technical Support Web site. Do not follow the instructions in this topic.
- Use the instructions below; do not uninstall using the Windows Programs and Features (Add or Remove Programs) option because the configuration file will not be saved.
- Before beginning, always refer to the release notes for the update or PSP for special notes and instructions which are pertinent to the particular software release being installed.
To update your current software version to the latest SANmelody version:

Download the latest update or PSP software and instructions from our SANmelody Technical Support Web site. On the Web site, refer to the Important Information box in the upper-right corner of the page. Click on the link to the latest updates. Be sure to download and read any documentation included.

Stop the Storage Domain Server (DcsSDS) service on the partner storage server.

Close all SANmelody and Computer Management windows before continuing.

Run the executable file for the SANmelody update or PSP that you just downloaded to uninstall the downlevel version. (Do not use the executable file for the currently installed version.)

You will receive a message that the DataCore application will be stopped, and access to all virtual volumes will be disabled. Click Yes to continue.

You will receive a message that the selected application and all its features will be removed. Click Yes to continue.

CAUTION: When you receive a message asking if you wish to preserve your configuration information, you must click Yes to preserve your configuration information. If you click No, your configuration information will not be saved.

Restart the computer when prompted.

Re-run the same downloaded executable file to install the latest update or PSP software.

CAUTION: When you receive a message indicating that your previously saved configuration has been detected, you must click Yes to restore the saved configuration. If you click No, the software will be installed with no initial configuration.

Any native storage HBA drivers previously in use must be re-instated in Windows Device Manager.

Restart the computer.

Reset the same local administrator logon and password information for the DataCore Storage Domain Server (DcsSDS) service. See Assign a Logon/Password for the DataCore Storage Domain Server Service for details.

Restart the DataCore Storage Domain Server (DcsSDS) service.

If the storage server is an AIM Source and/or Destination server, the same logon and password for DataCore AIM Source Service and AIM Destination Service must be reset before data can be sent from AIM Source servers to AIM Destination servers. Refer to Assigning a Logon and Password for AIM Services.

Restart the DataCore Storage Domain Server (DcsSDS) service on the partner storage server.
