Repairing the Installation

If SANmelody program files must be repaired for any reason, the program files must be uninstalled and re-installed.

Follow the instructions below; do not use Windows Programs and Features (Add or Remove Programs) to uninstall.

To repair the installation:
  1. Stop the Storage Domain Server (DcsSDS) service on the partner storage server.

  2. Close all SANmelody and Computer Management windows before continuing.

  3. Re-run the last SANmelody executable file used to install the current version of the SANmelody product and select the Uninstall option. (Never run an older executable file.)

    1. You will receive a message that the DataCore application will be stopped, and access to all virtual volumes will be disabled. Click Yes to continue.

    2. You will receive a message that the selected application and all its features will be removed. Click Yes to continue.

    3. CAUTION: When you receive a message asking if you wish to preserve your configuration information, you must click Yes to preserve your configuration information. If you click No, your configuration information will not be saved.

    4. Restart the computer when prompted.

  4. Re-run the same SANmelody executable file to re-install the program files.

    1. CAUTION: When you receive a message indicating that your previously saved configuration has been detected, you must click Yes to restore the saved configuration. If you click No, the software will be installed with no initial configuration.

    2. Any native storage HBA drivers previously in use must be re-instated using Windows Device Manager.

    3. Restart the computer.

  5. Reset the login information for the DataCore Storage Domain Server (DcsSDS) service. See Assign a Logon/Password for the DataCore Storage Domain Server Service for details.

  6. Restart the DataCore Storage Domain Server (DcsSDS) service.

  7. If the storage server is an AIM Source or Destination server, the same logon and password for DataCore AIM Source Service and AIM Destination Service must be reset before data can be sent from AIM Source servers to AIM Destination servers. Refer to Assigning a Logon and Password for AIM Services.

  8. Restart the DataCore Storage Domain Server (DcsSDS) service on the partner storage server.
