DataCore Remote Command Service

The DataCore Remote Command Service (DcsRcmd.exe) enables an authorized user to receive executable commands from any Windows-based server with this executable also installed.

The DcsRcmd executable and configuration files are installed on the storage server during software installation and is located with SANmelody program files (default location: C:Program Files (x86)DataCore SoftwareSANmelody).

In order to receive commands from a remote server, the service must be configured and started on the storage server:

  1. Configure the DcsRcmd Service by editing the configuration file (DcsRcmd.ini). Follow the directions described in the file.

  2. Click Start > Run and type services.msc to open the Microsoft Services.

  3. In the list in the right pane, select DataCore Remote Command Service and click Start the service.

In order to send and receive commands remotely from Windows application servers to storage servers, the executable must also be installed on “sending” application servers. Copy this executable file from a storage server to application servers; SANmelody software is not required to use the utility.

To display a list of command parameters and syntax, run the executable without parameters from the command line.
